Healing Your Relationship with Your Parents
"We are born of Love. Love is our Mother."
- Rumi
I never realized how much peace can come when you are actively working on healing your relationships with your parents until I decided I really wanted this issue in my life to transform this year. I am so grateful for all the guidance I have received to help me on this journey.
There are so many stories and experiences of children struggling in the home with their parents, with parents struggling with children, or adults and their parents not getting along. I know people who do not speak to their parents, who were abused, abandoned, or otherwise mistreated. I know parents who feel like they failed their children and would do anything for peace to be between them and their child. There is a saying that what is most pure and sacred, can also be the most painful. If no love compares to a mothers love, then no pain can compare to that of feeling disconnected from your mother or child. The same goes for fathers and their children.
My teacher, Master Sha has shared that our relationship with our parents is often times related to our karma, from this lifetimes and past lifetimes. If we have good family relationships, we have good karma. If we have suffering in our family relationships, we have negative karma. Most people have a mix of both. Master Sha has shared many techniques like forgiveness practice, Tao Calligraphy, meditation, and Soul Power to transform family relationships.
I was not applying these enough for a long time. I kept thinking of how I had other life issues I wanted to meditate on first. I wanted to transform my finances, boost my energy centers, heal my love life, become a better mother, open my spiritual channels, things like that before working on my childhood.
Then I learned the very profound wisdom. We must see our parents as God. Divine is our true parent, so whatever parent relationship we have, is a mirror image of what our relationship with Divine truly looks like. Our relationship with Divine shows up in all of our relationships, because Divine is in everyone and everything. When I would feel angry at my mother, it was showing me I had anger in between me and God. When I didn't trust my father, it was an image of my lack of trust for Divine! This would show up also as lack of trust and love for myself. My relationship with myself is an image of my relationship with Divine as well!
In one sentence, I was taught, that if I did not honor and respect my parents, then my honor and respect for Divine was conditional.
If you are able to give your entire heart to Divine, Divine blesses you unconditionally. If you only open your heart a little bit to Divine, Divine's love can not come into your heart fully. I am someone who really needs to transform so much in my own life. So I need to fully open my heart to Divine so that I can accept all of the gifts that are trying to come to me.
This is the meditation that Divine shared with me for transforming my relationships with my parents. I has helped me so much! I hope you can take a moment to sit and experience.
Sit straight up with feet flat on the floor, or in a sitting lotus position. Close your eyes. Put one palm on your navel and the other in the center of your chest over your spiritual heart. Feel yourself breathing deeply and slowly.
See Rainbow or Golden light in your lower abdomen. This is Divine, Heaven's light. If you can not see it, ask Divine to sit in your lower abdomen and radiate light out to you.
Sit with how beautiful it is to have God sitting with you. Divine is always with us, wanting to bless us, but we so often do not take the time to connect to receive the blessings.
Next, ask to see you and your parents in your Message Center, your spiritual heart, or your Heart Chakra. Ask Divine to show you your parents dancing in light in your heart. No matter what the pain is with you and your parents, focus on the light in your heart surrounding them.
Now start to see your parents becoming Divine in your heart. See your childhood with Divine raising you. See your life now with Divine calling you when they call. Divine testing your love. Divine testing your forgiveness and compassion. See everything good or bad that they did for you, and replace those images with God telling you that he loves you. Every time there was pain, that is what was happening. God was watching and whispering that he loved all of you and wants all of you to find peace.
Continue to focus on the light inside your body, and now chant or sing, "Divine's Love. Divine's Love. Divine's Love. Divine's Love. Divine's Love. for 5-10 minutes, or as long as your would like. My advice is to chant and sing until you feel like it is easy to see yourself and God's child.
Close by giving Divine your unconditional gratitude for every moment that you have been alive and for every person in your life. Thank your parents for having you. If you can not thank them for very many things right now, thank them for creating you so that you could be here. Without them, there wouldn't have been a you.
Hao, Hao, Hao
Thank you Thank you Thank you
Love you Love you Love you
Doing this has helped me more than I can even explain. I feel so much love in my life opening up to the fact that I am a daughter of Divine, a servant of Divine, and my parents are also children of Divine working (even if sometimes unconsciously) to become closer to love and light. I hope this can be of service to someone else.
Love,
Kayla
